Rachel Chappell – G/T Teacher

CMS Community School aims to maintain the highest social and academic standards for all of our students. In doing so, it is essential that we become an integrated community working together toward a common goal. As a school that values bilingualism and multiculturalism, we are creating an environment  where our students can foster their native language while developing additional skills in a second language.  We offer opportunities for students to participate in school wide events such as math and writing contests and afterschool enrichment. Our GT teacher works with staff  to ensure growth and mastery and serves as a resource and/or coach for fostering critical thinking skills as well as creativity in daily instruction.  We have a positive behavior system that encourages students to be their best and supports their social and emotional development .  Our GT teacher builds strong relationships with staff and community members and offers opportunities to engage in enrichment activities that benefit all students at CMS Community School. Students are screened for GT in Kindergarten and 2nd grade each fall and the GT teacher monitors those students who are considered to be in the “Talent Pool”, which includes students that are demonstrating GT potential.
